Narration is something that shouldn't be noticed, but the way this book was written, I noticed it a LOT. There was not one likeable character, not one. It's hard to get excited about a book when you really don't care what happens to the characters.

Lapena has no distinctive style. The characters are thinly drawn and caricatural. The plot is so unrealistic it is laughable.
I read a lot of books, and really have trouble finding fiction that isn't the same old detective murder stories. I thought this was a great story with a lot of twists that I didn't see coming. It would be hard to talk about the book without giving some of the plot away, but it kept me reading, and was truly hard to put down. I usually read from 11 pm until about 1 am, then go to bed. I ended up staying up until about 2 am or later each night trying to find out what was going to happen next.
